Montreal, February 28th, 2017. The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Member of Parliament for Ahunstic-Cartierville is pleased to announce that a grant of $ 41,113 was subsided under the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP).
The New Horizons for Seniors Program supports projects designed to help seniors share their knowledge, skills and experiences with others thus supporting communities to strengthen (reinforce) their ability to address local issues.
These significant investments will help finance projects in the following five organizations located in the riding:
- The Volunteer Centre of Armenian Relief Cross
- The Center for Services and Integration of Cultural Minorities (CSICM)
- The Maria S.S. Delle Grazie Golden Age Club
- The John Caboto Golden Age Club
- The I Pionieri Golden Age Club
“Today, I am very proud to lend a helping hand to this organization, that works tirelessly every day works to make our community more dynamic and welcoming,” stated Ms. Joly.
It should be mentioned (highlighted) that funded community projects offer activities that must address the commitment of seniors in contributing to at least one of the five objectives of the programme:
Encouraging volunteerism, promoting mentoring, raising awareness of elder abuse, supporting of social participation and providing mobilization assistance.
As part of the request for proposals of the NHSP 2016-2017, approximately 1,850 community projects have been approved and are currently being implemented.
